International Collaborations
The PhD program maintains co-supervision relationships, both outgoing and incoming, with numerous qualified foreign university institutions, such as: Lausanne, Geneva, Basel, Freiburg, Heidelberg, Mainz, Cologne, Stuttgart, Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (Paris), La Sorbonne, Grenoble, Toulouse, Limoges, Liège, Belgrade, etc.
PHD STUDENT MOBILITY
PhD students are expected to spend from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 12 months abroad. Mobility should be understood with particular reference to research and participation in intensive courses and summer schools of qualified scientific relevance. For stays abroad exceeding 20 days, the scholarship amount is increased by 50%. Starting from the second year, each PhD student has a budget equal to one-tenth of the scholarship for research activities in Italy and abroad. PhD students without scholarships also receive this grant (funded by DiSLL). Please note that PhD students can spend away from the PhD program’s location a period that cannot exceed in any case half of the actual duration of the Program.
VISITING PHD
Visiting PhDs can be either incoming or outgoing PhD students. Outgoing PhD students are those enrolled at Padova who will carry out a research period at a foreign University under the supervision of a foreign professor.
The procedure that PhD students must follow to carry out an outgoing Visiting PhD is as follows: -request authorization from the Coordinator -complete and have the Coordinator and Supervisor sign the request for authorization for stay abroad, and send it to the PhD Office (phd@unipd.it) -have the foreign University’s Office prepare and sign on letterhead the certification of mobility start and end dates -send the above documentation to the PhD Office (phd@unipd.it)
Incoming Visiting PhDs are PhD students from another University (Italian or foreign) who spend a research period of more than one month at the University of Padova. Visiting PhDs are not enrolled in the PhD research programs of the University of Padova and do not obtain a research doctorate degree from the University.
The procedure to follow to carry out a Visiting PhD period at our University is as follows:
-register on the platform reserved for Visiting Phd
-once registered, you will receive an email containing the link for insurance payment through the PagoPa system
-the PhD student must then upload the following documents in the attachments section of the platform: identity document, photograph, presentation letter written by them, insurance payment receipt and invitation letter written by the Italian supervisor.
CO-SUPERVISION
This normally takes place in the second year. It requires an agreement with a foreign university and the approval of a draft by the administrative Offices. After obtaining the Supervisor’s positive opinion, PhD students submit a request to the Executive Board/Faculty Board.
