Facilities and resources
The LIBRARIES of the Humanities Hub cover all the scientific areas of the PhD program. First and foremost, we highlight the Biblioteca Beato Pellegrino, one of the most important and well-stocked in Northern Italy.
Other Libraries of the Humanities Hub include the Biblioteca di Scienze dell’Antichità, Arte, Musica Liviano, the Biblioteca di Storia, the Biblioteca di Filosofia, the Biblioteca Universitaria. The entire collection is visible and searchable in the Catalogo. Courses on library resources and particularly on digital resources are organized for PhD students.
PhD students also have access to over 900 SUBSCRIPTIONS to journals covering all the scientific-disciplinary sectors of interest to the PhD Program. Among the fundamental DATABASES for research in the humanities field, we highlight: Corpus de la littérature médiévale, Patrologia latina, Dictionnaires des 16. et 17. siècles, Digitale Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker, EditLib, EEBO, EIO, Frantext, JStor, Liber database, LION, MLA, Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, World Biographical Index, etc.
The SOFTWARE specifically relevant to the planned research sectors includes for example: AntConc, Praat, Elan, R, Any Video Converter, Classical Text Editor, DocuScope, Ubiqu-lty 1.0, LaTeX. Adobe, Antivirus Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, Arcgis, Autodesk, Dnastar, Mathematica (Wolfram Mathematica), Mathworks (Matlab and Simulink), Question Mark Perception 4.0, SAS, SPSS, Statgraphics, Statistica, All Apple software with the “Apple on Campus” (AoC) formula, All Microsoft software with the “Select” and “Campus” formulas.
The University Language Center (CLA) has multimedia LABORATORIES for teaching activities, teaching support and for the assessment of language skills.
The PhD program has a PhD Students’ Room at DiSLL (BEATO PELLEGRINO UNIVERSITY COMPLEX – second floor – offices 106 to 108), where computers connected to the network and departmental printers are available, with access to email and web applications. In these spaces it is also possible to connect one’s own personal laptop to the network using the same services. The space can host meetings, seminars, as well as facilitate individual study and exchange among PhD students on research activities.
